Haleigh’s Miracle
Late one evening — close to 11:00 PM — Troy and his wife were settling in for the night when their daughter Haleigh and her new work friend walked into the living room with a simple request.
Could they make a quick run to a local coffee shop?
Normally, the answer would have been easy. But Haleigh lives with epilepsy and carries the risk of S.U.D.E.P. — Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. Her friend also suffers from an undiagnosed condition that can cause sudden loss of consciousness, though she typically experiences about a sixty-second awareness window beforehand.
Together, they had formed what the family called a buddy system — watching over one another so their parents wouldn’t have to hover constantly in fear.
They just wanted to get out of the house for a bit.
It wasn’t unusual… just later than normal.
After considering the quiet roads and light traffic at that hour, Troy agreed. The girls left.
About forty-five minutes later, something didn’t feel right.
A father’s instinct stirred.
Troy asked his wife to check their tracking app. Instead of heading home, the car was moving farther away — in the opposite direction.
Alarm bells went off instantly.
He called Haleigh.
She answered calmly, explaining they had gotten lost trying to find a new coffee shop location. Troy gave simple directions — left at the next stop sign, another left after that, then a right at the highway that would bring them home.
They laughed together.
On the app, he watched the vehicle make the first turn.
He hung up.
Just minutes later, his phone rang again.
An unknown number.
“Is this Haleigh’s dad?”
Troy’s heart dropped.
The man on the other end continued:
“You don’t know me… but my wife and I were out here having a picnic, watching the stars. We’re the only people around. A car stopped at the sign… then suddenly accelerated full throttle. It barely missed us and launched over the farmer’s canal into the field. Your daughter gave me your number. She’s okay — just shaken. Paramedics are on the way. We’re staying with her.”
Shoes half on, adrenaline already flooding his body, Troy raced for his truck.
When he arrived, the scene barely made sense.
According to the tracking app, the car had gone straight from the stop sign — directly into the canal crossing.
Haleigh’s friend had passed out behind the wheel. Her head fell forward onto the steering wheel… her foot pressing fully down on the accelerator.
The car never slowed.
It launched — Dukes of Hazzard style — over a farmer’s irrigation canal.
Fifty to one hundred feet.
A car… airborne.
By every law of physics, it should have ended in catastrophe.
Instead, the vehicle cleared the canal and slammed into freshly tilled soil, the soft earth absorbing the impact and stopping the car before it could roll or continue forward.
Both axles were destroyed.
Bumpers ripped away.
Airbags fully deployed.
The vehicle was totaled.
But the girls walked away.
No broken bones.
No fatal injuries.
No windshield impact.
No canal.
No tragedy.
The next day, still searching for answers, Troy, his wife, and Haleigh returned to the field.
Haleigh explained she remembered trying to grab the wheel — and then suddenly seeing only sky.
They measured the distance.
The launch point.
The landing marks buried deep in two-foot-thick soil.
The long trail where the car finally came to rest.
The distance seemed impossible.
Nothing else surrounded them — just dirt, tire tracks, scattered debris… and silence.
Then Troy’s wife noticed something in the distance near the canal.
A small white object.
They walked toward it.
Lying alone in the field was an old, weathered Bible — its hard cover gone, pages worn by time. It lay open, its pages spread wide, shaped almost perfectly like two angel wings.
They looked down at the verse revealed on the page:
“For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field:
and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.”
— Job 5:23
In that moment, the questions faded.
How did they miss the couple watching the stars?
How did the car clear the canal?
How did they survive the impact?
How were they spared?
For Troy and his family, the answer felt undeniable.
God had been watching.
Protection had arrived before tragedy could.
A miracle in a dark field… under an open sky.
Thank you, Troy and Sheryl, for sharing your daughter’s story.
And thank you, Haleigh.
May God continue to bless you, protect you, and guide your life always.

I have been blessed to know Troy and Sheryl for many years. I was there with Troy and Haleigh on the day they were baptized — a moment I will never forget. This is a hardworking family who truly loves God, and Haleigh’s life is nothing short of a beautiful miracle. I have no doubt that God’s arms are lovingly wrapped around her.
Truly an amazing story, it gives me chills when I think about that day, as I’m Troy, the father that was reminded that givin the Sudep circumstances, things could have turned out much differently, and reminded me not only to count my blessings that I do have, but that our lord knows all, he has everything under control and it’s what was meant to be. Thank you Restored life After for sharing our story, we hope it helps! Sometimes in a bad situation we need a little reminder, it could be worse. Our God is a Mighty God, Thank you Jesus !
