Q: In a world where everyone claims to have their own truth, where do we find the real truth?
Jesus answered that question clearly:
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” — John 17:17 KJV
A: Notice what Jesus did not say. He didn’t say your feelings are truth. He didn’t say society determines truth. He didn’t say truth changes with culture, popularity, politics or the generation you’re living in.
Jesus said to the Father, “thy word is truth.”
That changes everything.
Truth isn’t something we invent to make ourselves comfortable. God’s Word is the standard that corrects us. When Scripture agrees with the way we’re living, it is truth. When Scripture exposes something we’re doing wrong, it is still truth.
Jesus also prayed, “Sanctify them through thy truth.” To sanctify means to set apart for God’s purpose. God’s Word doesn’t simply give us information—it changes us. It exposes sin, corrects our thinking, teaches us how to live and separates God’s people from the thinking of the world.
That is why reading the Bible isn’t enough if we refuse to obey what we read.
We don’t change Scripture to fit our lives.
We change our lives to fit Scripture.
The world can redefine right and wrong a thousand times. God’s truth doesn’t need an update.
So when you’re confused about what to believe, don’t begin with social media. Don’t begin with culture. Don’t even begin with yourself.
Open God’s Word.
Read it. Study it. Obey it.
Because Jesus already told us where truth is found:
“THY WORD IS TRUTH.”
