PUT GOD FIRST AND WATCH WHAT HAPPENS

Q: If I put God first, will my dreams come true?

Maybe.

But here’s the truth people don’t always want to hear:

God never promised to give you everything you want.

He promised something better.

Jesus said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” — Matthew 6:33 KJV

Notice what Jesus said first:

Seek God.

Not money.

Not success.

Not recognition.

Not the dream.

God.

Sometimes we spend years asking God to bless our plans when we should be asking whether our plans fit His.

Q: Doesn’t the Bible say God will give us the desires of our heart?

Yes—but read the whole thought.

“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” — Psalm 37:4 KJV

This isn’t a blank check from heaven.

When you genuinely delight yourself in God, something begins changing inside you.

Your desires change.

What once seemed important may become meaningless. What you once chased may lose its power over you. And things you never imagined wanting may suddenly become the deepest desires of your heart.

God doesn’t simply change your circumstances.

He changes you.

Q: Should Christians still have dreams and goals?

Absolutely.

Dream big.

Build something.

Start the business.

Write the book.

Raise the family.

Develop your talent.

Work hard.

But never allow the dream to become more important than the God who gave you another day to pursue it.

Proverbs 3:5–6 says:

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

That’s the difference.

You can make plans.

God directs the path.

And sometimes His direction includes a door you desperately wanted being slammed shut.

At the time, you’ll call it disappointment.

Years later, you may call it protection.

Q: What happens when God truly becomes first?

Your definition of success begins changing.

Success stops being only about what you own, what you earn, who knows your name or how impressive your life looks.

You begin asking different questions.

Am I faithful?

Am I becoming the person God wants me to become?

Am I helping people?

Am I using what God gave me?

Am I living in a way that will matter when this life is over?

Because Jesus asked one of the most powerful questions ever spoken:

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” — Matthew 16:26 KJV

Imagine achieving every dream you’ve ever had…

and losing the one thing that mattered most.

Q: So what’s the answer?

Keep dreaming.

Keep working.

Keep building.

Keep believing tomorrow can be better than today.

But put everything in the proper order.

God first.

Then family.

Then your purpose, work, goals and dreams.

Don’t ask God to follow you into the life you’ve designed.

Follow Him into the life He has prepared for you.

Some of your dreams may come true.

Some may change.

Some may die.

And God may place dreams inside you that are bigger than anything you originally imagined.

But when God is truly first, something incredible happens:

You stop needing every dream to come true in order to know your life has meaning.

Because eventually you understand…

The greatest dream was never getting everything you wanted.

It was becoming everything God wanted you to be.
