Q: Where does true joy come from?
A: The world teaches us that joy comes from getting what we want—more money, a better job, the perfect relationship, a nicer house, recognition, success.
But those things can disappear overnight.
Jesus said:
“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” — John 15:11 KJV
There is a difference between happiness and joy.
Happiness often depends on what is happening around you.
True joy depends on Who lives within you.
You can have money and still feel empty. You can be surrounded by people and still feel alone. You can appear to have everything together while privately falling apart.
True joy isn’t pretending life doesn’t hurt. It isn’t smiling through every storm.
It’s knowing that even in the storm, God is still God.
It’s knowing your circumstances can change without changing who you belong to. People can leave. Plans can fail. Doors can close. Life can hurt.
But God remains.
Paul wrote:
“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” — Philippians 4:4 KJV
Notice where he said to rejoice:
In the Lord.
Not in money.
Not in circumstances.
Not in people.
Not in possessions.
In the Lord.
Stop searching the world for something only God can give you.
Happiness comes and goes. True joy has an anchor.
And that anchor is God.
