The Measure You Use
There is a standard being set every day…
not by what you say you believe…
but by how you treat people.
Because grace and mercy are not just words.
They are actions.
They are choices.
And the way you give them…
is the way they will be given back to you.
Grace is giving something to someone…
who doesn’t deserve it.
Mercy is holding back something…
that they do.
And if you’re honest with yourself…
that’s not easy.
Because people will hurt you.
They will lie.
They will disappoint you.
They will fail you in ways that feel personal… real… and deep.
And in those moments… everything inside you wants justice.
Wants retaliation.
Wants to give them exactly what they gave you.
But that’s not grace.
That’s not mercy.
That’s the world.
Grace is choosing to give kindness… when it isn’t earned.
Mercy is choosing to hold back judgment… when it is deserved.
And that kind of living… goes against everything natural.
Because it requires strength.
It requires control.
It requires you to rise above what you feel… and choose something higher.
Because here’s the truth most people don’t think about…
You are not perfect either.
You’ve needed grace.
You’ve needed mercy.
You’ve made mistakes… fallen short… and done things you wish you could take back.
And yet…
God still gave it to you.
Over and over again.
So the question becomes…
If you’ve received it…
why wouldn’t you give it?
Because one day…
the same measure you use on others…
will be used on you.
Not by opinion.
Not by emotion.
But by truth.
This life gives you opportunities every single day…
to show grace when it’s hard.
to show mercy when it’s undeserved.
to reflect something greater than yourself.
And those moments matter more than you think.
Because they reveal who you really are.
So don’t live like the world.
Don’t react like everyone else.
Don’t give people what they deserve…
Give them what God gave you.
