The most valuable thing you own isn’t your house, your car, your money, or anything with your name written on it.

It’s your word.

When you tell someone you’ll be there—be there. When you make a promise—keep it. When you shake someone’s hand—make sure it still means something when you walk away.

Anyone can say the right things when it’s convenient. Character is keeping your word when keeping it costs you something.

Money can be earned again. Possessions can be replaced. But once people learn that your word means nothing, trust is incredibly hard to rebuild.

Live so that when you say, “You have my word,” nothing else needs to be said.
