The warning signs of suicide aren’t always easy to see.
Sometimes there is no goodbye. No obvious cry for help. No dramatic change that everyone recognizes.
Sometimes they’re still smiling. Still working. Still answering, “I’m fine.” Still making plans. Still showing up for everyone else while quietly falling apart inside.
That’s why we need to pay attention to each other.
Notice when someone suddenly pulls away. When their personality changes. When they start talking like they’re a burden, giving things away, saying people would be better without them, or speaking about death and hopelessness.
And sometimes there may be no sign you recognize at all.
So don’t wait for someone to look broken before you show them love.
Call them. Sit with them. Listen without judging. Tell them they matter.
One conversation may seem small to you.
To someone fighting to stay alive, it could mean everything.
If you’re the one silently struggling tonight, please don’t fight this moment alone. In the U.S., call or text 988 for immediate crisis support. If you’re in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
