What they don’t tell you about suicide…
Is that it doesn’t end the pain.
It passes that pain to the people who loved you.
To the mother who will forever wonder if she missed the signs.
To the father who would have traded places with you in a heartbeat.
To the husband or wife who will replay your last conversation for the rest of their life.
To the children who will spend years asking why.
To the friends who will wish they had made one more phone call.
To the people who loved you more than you ever realized.
Depression is a terrible liar.
It tells you that you’re alone.
You’re not.
It tells you that no one cares.
They do.
It tells you that your life has no value.
But the God who created you says otherwise.
The Bible reminds us that every human life is made in the image of God. Your life has value not because of what you own, what you’ve accomplished, or how you feel today. Your life has value because God created you and loves you.
Psalm 34:18 says:
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Notice what it doesn’t say.
It doesn’t say you’ll never be brokenhearted.
It says that God draws near to you in the middle of your pain.
If today feels unbearably dark, don’t suffer in silence.
Talk to someone you trust.
Tell a family member.
Tell a faithful friend.
Talk with your church family.
Reach out to a counselor.
Ask for help.
There is courage in asking for help—not weakness.
You may not believe it today, but your story is not finished.
The pain you’re feeling today does not have to become the end of your story.
God is still able to bring hope where there is despair, light where there is darkness, and purpose where life feels empty.
Please don’t make a permanent decision because of a temporary season.
There are people who love you.
There are people who need you.
And there is a God who has not stopped loving you for a single moment.
Hold on.
Tomorrow may tell a very different story than today.
